This Beekeeping Website

The purpose of this website is to share my interest, experience, and enthusiasm for honey bees, other pollinators, and the environment. If you find any of this information helpful, Good. If you become more interested in bees and the environment. GREAT. During the many years of being a beekeeper, catching swarms and receiving calls about bees and wasps, I have been asked questions about a range of subjects surrounding beekeeping and bee problems. As a result of my experience, I have attempted to answer many of the questions I have encountered.

Me, my Bees, and Beekeeping

I have been keeping honey bees since 2007.  I became interested in pollination and bees by chance.  Some vines appeared and spread in the front yard and produced crops of blossoms which withered fruitlessly.  Curious as to what the vines were and why the blossoms kept dying, I mentioned them to my friend, a gardener and a beekeeper.  He explained immediately that the flowers were not being pollinated because of the scarcity of honey bees. So, we pollinated the flowers by hand and learned that the plants were pumpkin vines.  And I decided to learn more about bees and began to study beekeeping.

I found bees to be complex and fascinating creatures and I enjoy introducing bees to others.  I have given countless presentations at community and private events: fairs, schools, synagogues, churches, homes.  As a result of my presentations, people have invited me to keep bees on their property for the benefits that pollinators provide. I started with two hives in my back yard and now have two dozen hives at numerous out yards in my locale.  In addition, people have contacted me regularly with bee situations. I have captured many honey bee swarms and have extracted bees from all kinds of places: homes, churches, apartments, and commercial buildings.
